LoudMouth is a solo project that I do with voice, saxophones, African Percussion, two Boomerang loopers and three CD players. I loop percussion and bass with my voice, then layer vocal or sax harmonies.
Then I sing lyrics and play acoustic and electric sax over the top. My electric sax runs through a forty-year-old Vox mouthpiece pickup and then into a series of vintage guitar effects. It's an unbelievable sound! I weave in straight and slowed-down, reversed natural sounds to let the music and myself breathe. I also dip into a CD I dubbed of traditional African 'Tribal' music recorded in the 1960's through the 1970's.
Even though I have thirty original and cover songs, each time I play a song it is different, often quite different. Really, I make up songs and put lyrics on them. I love being surprised.
